Before purchasing a scooter, the following should be considered:
Size
ease of operation
turning ability
wheel size for terrain
Power
battery life
braking system
Parking/Storage
where will it be stored?
outlet available for charging
Comfort
seating
backrest
Transportation
can it be transported by car or van?
does it require disassembling?
is it transportable by HandyDART or transit?
Keep in mind that scooters longer than 45″ cannot be accommodated by bus!
Did you know that by law, scooter are classified as “Pedestrians”?
Some rules for the road:
Use sidewalks wherever possible.
Cross at pedestrian crosswalks. Check for traffic before crossing.
Make eye contact with motorists/pedestrians before crossing their path
Obey all traffic control signs and devices
Operation of scooters in bicycle lanes is prohibited
Be a courteous pedestrian:
Slow down when traveling around others, and try to avoid travelling too close behind or obstructing them
Keep to the right on sidewalks
Avoid honking your horn, ask people to let you pass
Be Visible when on the road:
Wear brightly colored clothing
Have a fluorescent orange flag in the back seat of the scooter
